It\u2019s official! I\u2019m now a multi award-winning playwright!<\/p>\n
Last night, I was privileged to receive an award for Outstanding New Play by an Alberta Playwright, for my most recent script, “Coffee with Gabe”.<\/p>\n
The occasion was the Alberta Drama Festival Association’s 2017 Foothills Zone One-Act Play Festival, and four original plays, three of which were new, were presented.<\/p>\n
This is the second time I’ve received this award, so I now have to believe that winning it the first time (with “Act III” in 2015) wasn’t a fluke!<\/p>\n
Thank you to adjudicator Valerie Planche for giving me this recognition.<\/p>\n
Many thanks to Logan Coutts, Safia Comtois-Mohamad and Shamir Ladhani for doing such a great job performing the piece, and to everyone else who helped polish the script and stage the production.<\/p>\n
And congrats to Shamir for picking up the Honourable Mention plaque for Outstanding Male Actor.<\/p>\n
The adjudicator’s comment went something along the lines of, “I hope this play goes far.”<\/p>\n
I now need to fight the urge to interpret that comment cynically or negatively, and then work out how to make the “play go far”!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
